Dear Friends and Colleagues,
We warmly welcome you to SVEPM 2014, the annual conference of the Society for Veterinary Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine (SVEPM), to be held in Dublin during Wednesday 26 to Friday 28 March 2014.
Dublin is one of Europe’s most popular destinations. It is a bustling city of about 1.7 million people, steeped in history and tradition, with plenty to see and do. The nightlife is vibrant, with many bars and restaurants, and Dublin is reputedly one of Europe’s most youthful cities. The conference venue is within a five minute walk of Temple Bar, Dublin’s cultural quarter. Dublin also has a vibrant arts scene, and a world famous literary history. In 2010, Dublin was named a UNESCO City of Literature in 2010. Dublin is very cosmopolitan, but also retains its own distinct culture, expressed through a love of literature, drama and traditional music.
A stimulating scientific programme has been organised for SVEPM 2014, in the beautiful and historic surroundings of Dublin Castle. The Castle was recently used as the official venue of the Irish Presidency of the European Union, and is a world class conference facility. In addition, we will be catching up socially at Trinity College Dublin on Wednesday evening and at Guinness Storehouse on Thursday evening. An Irish céilí (Irish folk music and dancing, with lots of delegate participation!) will be held after dinner at the Storehouse.
We are all looking forward to meeting you in Dublin in March 2014.
With best wishes
